How to Update the Firmware on ELLIPAL Titan?

How to update firmware on ELLIPAL Titan series hardware wallets using a microSD card. Covers Titan 2.0, Titan, and Titan Mini, from version check to installation in under 10 minutes.

Before You Start

• ELLIPAL Titan series device (Titan 2.0, Titan, or Titan Mini)

• microSD card (8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB) — use the card included in the box, or any card formatted to FAT32

• A card reader and a computer

• The ELLIPAL charging dock adapter

Step 1: Confirm your device model and current firmware version

The firmware file is different for each Titan model. Check your version first to confirm which file to download and whether an update is available. On your device, go to Settings → About — the version string at the top tells you which model you have.

1. On the home screen, tap the gear icon (⚙) in the top-left corner

2. Tap About

3. Check the version string at the top and match it to your device:

Step 2: Download the firmware file to your microSD card

Each Titan model has its own firmware file. Download the ZIP file directly to your microSD card — do not unzip it and do not rename it. The device reads the ZIP file directly during installation.

1. Insert your microSD card into a card reader and connect it to your computer

2. Find your model in the Firmware Version & Download table above and download the ZIP file directly to the SD card

3. Confirm there is only one ZIP file on the card — delete any older firmware files before proceeding

4. Do not rename the file and do not unzip it

Mac users: Use Chrome to download the file. Safari may automatically unzip the archive, which prevents the device from detecting the update. If the file shows no .zip extension after downloading, re-download using Chrome.

Step 3: Insert the SD card and connect the adapter

Insert the SD card before connecting power — this order matters. The adapter indicator light tells you whether the SD card has been read successfully.

1. Insert the microSD card into the card slot on the charging dock adapter

2. Connect the adapter to a power source — the adapter indicator should turn solid blue once the SD card is detected

3. Power off your Titan, then place it on the adapter — the device turns on automatically

If the adapter indicator stays green instead of blue, try reinserting the SD card. If the issue continues, try a different microSD card or adapter.

Step 4: Install the firmware update

With the device powered on and the SD card detected, run the update from Settings. The process takes about 5 minutes for Titan 2.0 and Titan Mini, and about 10 minutes for Titan (EC02). Do not disconnect the adapter while the update is running.

1. Tap the gear icon (⚙) to open Settings, then tap Update

2. The device detects the update file and shows the version number — tap Start Update

3. Wait while the device copies and installs the files — the adapter indicator light blinks blue throughout this process; the progress bar reaches 100%, then the device restarts

4. After the restart, tap OK on the "Updated Successfully" screen

Do not disconnect or power off the device during the update. The device restarts once automatically after installation — this is expected.

How to Confirm It Worked

Once the update is complete, go to Settings → About. The version string should now match the firmware version you downloaded. If the number has changed, the update was successful and your device is ready to use.

FAQ

How do I know which firmware file to download for my device?

Check your current version in Settings → About. If the version starts with "Titan2.0", download the Titan 2.0 file. If it starts with "EC02", download the Titan file. If it starts with "MINI", download the Titan Mini file. All firmware files are listed on the ELLIPAL firmware update page.

Why can't my device detect the firmware update file?

Check the following: the microSD card is formatted to FAT32, there is only one ZIP file on the card, the filename has not been changed, and the file has not been unzipped. Also confirm the adapter indicator light turned blue after inserting the SD card — a green light means the card has not been read correctly.

Can I rename or unzip the firmware file before installing?

No. The file must stay in its original ZIP format with its original filename. If your system automatically added a suffix such as "(1)" during download, remove it before proceeding.

What should I do if the firmware update fails?

Your wallet data and private keys are not affected by a failed update. Reformat the microSD card to FAT32, re-download the firmware file, and try the process again from Step 2. If the device still does not update, see the firmware update troubleshooting guide below.
