# How to Fix NFC Connection Issues with the ELLIPAL X Card?

Most X Card NFC connection issues are caused by a phone case blocking the signal or the card being placed in the wrong spot on your phone. Removing the case and holding the card steady over your phone's NFC area for 5 to 10 seconds resolves the issue in most cases.

### Fix NFC connection issues

1. Remove your phone case, then try scanning again. Thick, metal, or magnetic cases are the most common cause of failed NFC reads.
2. Place the X Card against your phone's NFC area and hold it steady for 5 to 10 seconds. Tapping the card quickly will not work. It needs to sit still while the phone reads it.
3. Keep the card flat against the phone with no gap, and avoid moving it during the read.
4. If scanning still fails, set up the X Card again using Starter, then reconnect it in the ELLIPAL App.

Before resetting the X Card, make sure your seed phrase is backed up. Resetting clears the card's current session, and you'll need your seed phrase to restore access to your wallet.

### Where is the NFC area on my phone?

NFC antenna placement varies by phone model, so if your first attempt fails, try a few positions.

**iPhone**

* The NFC area is usually at the top back of the phone, near the camera.
* Place the X Card against the top back of the phone.

**Android**

Common NFC locations include:

* Back center
* Upper-middle back
* Near the camera area

For your exact model, check [Samsung's NFC detection guide](https://www.samsung.com/hk_en/nfc-support/#devicelist) or the [Google Pixel hardware diagram](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/7157629).

{% hint style="info" %}
Small position changes can affect detection. If the card isn't reading, shift it slightly and hold again rather than tapping repeatedly.
{% endhint %}

### If the issue continues

If none of the steps above work, send a short video of the NFC reading process to <cs@ellipal.com> so the support team can take a closer look.

### FAQ

<details>

<summary><strong>Why is my X Card not detected?</strong></summary>

This is usually caused by a phone case blocking the NFC signal, incorrect card placement, or movement during scanning. Removing the case and holding the card steady over the NFC area resolves most cases.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How long should I hold the X Card against my phone?</strong></summary>

Hold it steady for 5 to 10 seconds. Tapping the card briefly is not enough time for the phone to complete the read.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Should I tap or hold the X Card?</strong></summary>

Place and hold the card against the NFC area. Do not tap it quickly, since NFC reading needs sustained contact.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Do I need to back up my seed phrase before resetting the X Card?</strong></summary>

Yes. Resetting the X Card clears its current session, so back up your seed phrase first to make sure you can restore your wallet afterward.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can a phone case really block NFC on the X Card?</strong></summary>

Yes. Thick, metal, or magnetic phone cases commonly interfere with NFC signals. Removing the case before scanning is the first troubleshooting step to try.
