This guide shows you how to create a new wallet on your ELLIPAL X Card and connect it to the ELLIPAL App.

How to Create a New Wallet on ELLIPAL X Card

This guide walks you through two steps: creating a new wallet on your ELLIPAL X Card, then connecting it to the ELLIPAL App. Your X Card stores your private keys offline and communicates with the app via NFC — no internet connection is required at any point.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • ELLIPAL X Card (blank, uninitialized)

  • ELLIPAL X Card Starter, powered on

  • ELLIPAL App installed on your iOS or Android phone

  • NFC enabled on your phone

  • A pen and paper to write down your seed phrase

  • 10 minutes in a private space where no one can see your screen

Step 1: Create a new wallet on X Card

Your X Card generates a seed phrase — 12, 18, or 24 words that serve as the only backup for your wallet. Write every word down in the correct order before moving on.

  1. Tap Create Wallet

  2. Use the up and down arrows on the left side to select your Seed Phrase Option (12, 18, or 24 words), then tap OK

  3. Use the arrows to set each digit of your Card-PIN, then confirm it and tap OK — this PIN protects your X Card when connecting to the app and signing transactions

  4. Wait until the screen shows Wallet Created

  5. Choose whether you need a duplicate card:

    • If you do not need one, tap No

    • If you need a duplicate, tap Yes, insert another blank X Card, and follow the on-screen instructions

  6. Tap Next

  7. Write down every word of your seed phrase in the correct order, then tap Next

  8. Use the arrows to select the correct words and confirm your seed phrase, then tap Next

  9. When the screen prompts you to remove the card, remove your X Card from the X Card Starter

Never store your seed phrase on your phone, computer, or cloud storage. Anyone who has it can access your assets. Write it down on paper and keep it in a secure offline location.

Step 2: Connect X Card to the ELLIPAL App

The app and your X Card communicate via NFC — hold your card near your phone's NFC area to complete the connection.

  1. Open the ELLIPAL App and tap Cold Wallet

  2. Tap X Card

  3. Tap Connect X Card

  4. Enter your Card-PIN, then tap Submit

  5. Hold your X Card near your phone's NFC area

  6. Wait for the connection to complete — your wallet name and address will appear in the app

If NFC scanning fails, move the card slowly around the back of your phone until it detects. The NFC chip location varies by phone model.

What Can Go Wrong

Why can't my phone detect the X Card?

First, confirm NFC is enabled in your phone's settings. Then hold the X Card flat and still against the back of your phone — the NFC chip on both the card and phone need to be aligned. If detection still fails, move the card slowly around the back of your phone in small steps until it connects. To avoid this issue, check your phone's NFC chip location in its manual before connecting.

Why is my Card-PIN not working?

The Card-PIN is set during wallet creation using the arrows on the X Card Starter. If your PIN is not accepted, confirm you are entering the same sequence of digits in the same order. If you have forgotten your PIN, you will need to reset the X Card and recover using your seed phrase.

How to Confirm It Worked

Once connected, the ELLIPAL App displays your wallet name, supported networks, and wallet address. If your wallet address appears under the correct network, setup is complete and your X Card is ready to use. Store your paper seed phrase backup in a secure offline location before making any transactions.

Why do I need to back up the seed phrase on ELLIPAL X Card?

Your seed phrase is the only way to recover your wallet if your X Card is lost, damaged, or reset. ELLIPAL does not store your keys — without the seed phrase, there is no way for anyone to recover your assets.

What is a Card-PIN on ELLIPAL X Card?

Your Card-PIN is a security code you set during wallet creation. It is required every time you connect your X Card to the ELLIPAL App or sign a transaction. Keep it separate from your seed phrase backup.

How do I set up a duplicate X Card?

During wallet creation (Step 5), tap Yes when prompted about a duplicate card. Insert a second blank X Card into the X Card Starter and follow the on-screen instructions. The duplicate card holds the same wallet and can be used as a backup if your primary card is lost.

What should I do if NFC connection keeps failing on ELLIPAL X Card?
